President’s Message – Q4 2017

As we transition into the 4th quarter of 2017 this is a great time to acknowledge all the hard work from numerous people to provide value for our ACHE chapter this year. A partial list of accomplishments include: 12 hours of F2F credits offered by our state chapter, visits to at least 6 university campuses for recruiting/education, a panel discussion on advancement to Fellow status, a networking event for members, development of a mentorship program…and the list goes on. We appreciate the board members and other volunteers who made this happen!

It is fulfilling to see planning and effort for large events come together for the benefit of the whole. However, it does not take big events for a leader to assist others. The most significant influence you have lives in your day-to-day actions. The fundamental respect of giving your full attention during a meeting or providing candid but polite advice to a colleague is remembered long after many more formal events are forgotten. While, all of us fall victim to cell phones and computers. We are in the business of people. Patients, staff, families, and anyone else we interact with each day.

We are at our best when our focus is external and we seek the best for others. I sometimes fall back on my military career and how we were groomed. A prime example is the U.S. Air Force First Sergeant’s Creed. It states in part, “My job is people…I grow in strength by strengthening my people…”
Growing others is growth for you!

Your Board Members are here to serve and help provide value for your membership. Please reach out to any of us personally with questions, comments, and/or concerns!

With great respect,

Dave
